Qualifications
Graduated from the University of Ceylon in Civil Engineering in 1966, obtained Charter of the Institution of Civil Engineers, London, in 1972, Charter of the Institution of Engineers of Sri Lanka in 1977 and the Fellowship of the Institution of Civil Engineers London in 2002.
Professional Activities
Nihal Bogahalande, the Concordia Associate for South Asia has been elected as the district governor, District 3220, Sri Lanka, for the Rotary Year 2005-2006. Nihal has been a member of the Rotary club of Colombo West for the past 20 years, of which he has been a member of the board of directors for 18 years including as President, Secretary and as a Service Director. He is currently as Assistant Governor. He has carried out a number of service projects funded by the rotary foundation and rotary in Sri Lanka to assist the needy and poor. He has co-ordinated the raising and allocation of several million US dollars to assist recovery from the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami.
Experience
For the past 24 years carried out Loss Adjustments and Valuations on Major claims and Risk Management Consultancy Services for numerous companies and agencies throughout Sri Lanka, Maldives, India and the region.
